An Atomic Bomb to Stop the Gulf Oil Leak (?)
Top Kill failed to halt the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. Relief wells are being prepared, but the government is already looking at the possibility of using nuclear bombs on the leak. Crazy? Maybe, but this wouldn't be the first time for such an approach. This nuke-the-leak video shows the Russians using a nuclear bomb to stop an out-of-control gas well on land. We wonder, though, whether 5,000 feet of water or the different geologic characteristics would make a difference. Hmmm....
