THEORIES ON WHY THE ANCIENTS BUILT STONEHENGE:

  It was an early attempt to precisely map positions of stars and planets to facilitate better horoscope writing.

  A few people drank too many cups of espresso one morning, had to work it off.

  It was a technological innovation from a people way ahead of their time, as explained by the little-known inscription: "Someday we will be able to use this to receive something called 'satellite TV' for free."

BIG ROCK FOR A PLANET OF BIG ROCKS

  “Stonehenge” – Spinal Tap, from the album This Is Spinal Tap

Stonehenge, where the demons dwell;
Where the banshees live and they do live well;
Stonehenge, Where a man is a man and the children
Dance to the pipes of Pan;
Stonehenge—
Tis a magic place
Where the moon doth rise
With a dragon's face...
Stonehenge!

  album cover for This Is Spinal Tap

REVIEW: What do you do when you can't decide whether you want to perform heavy-metal rock or mock it? Well, you do both, and you do both well. At least, that was Spinal Tap's approach. This is the soundtrack album to the movie "This is Spinal Tap" and, lo and behold, these songs stand the test of time! A track like "Stonehenge" could have easily had a home on any album by Blue Oyster Cult. Another standout track, "Listen To Me (The Flower People)," would have been at home on an album by The Nice, The Electric Prunes, or any other 1960s flower-pop-psyc band. This album is a parody gone classic!
