Grinning Planet Comment: There is an axis between large corporations and their elected/appointed cronies at the federal and state levels of government. Almost all mainstream news organizations are owned by large multinational corporations. Instead of watchdogging the bad behavior of governments, corporations, and elites, mainstream media are merely mouthpieces for government and corporate spinmeisters. If you find yourself worried about the direction of government and the Big Brother "total awareness" tools being using at the NSA and other organizations, then moving from propagandistic media to independent, truth-telling media must be high on your to-do list.

The US is Already a "Total Information Surveillance" State — 09 Jun 2011 — Roger Tolces, a private investigator specializing in electronic counter-measures, spoke about ways the United States is being brought down by elites and multinational corporations. Our constitutional rights have been eroded by the Patriot Act, and any electronic media you use is routed through the NSA, including your credit card statements, IRS records, phone calls, medical records. And by the way, they have a "back door" into your personal computer. Tolces thinks the attempt to dissolve the United States, its constitution, and its military is an agenda of the elite-owned multinational corporations who seek to turn America into a "consumptive colony." He warned of a coming currency collapse, and suggested that the massive surveillance already in place will be used to monitor and arrest people that protest the economic downgrade.

Jeffrey Smith: Looking for the 5% Tipping Point on Frankenfood — 16 Jun 2011 — Jeffrey Smith provides his typically excellent update on the latest findings on the dangers of genetically modified (GM) food. For instance, Bt toxin from GM corn is showing up in the blood of women and fetuses, casting serious doubt on Monsanto's health safety claims. Meanwhile, the US congress is tussling over an amendment that would prohibit the FDA from approving genetically engineered salmon. Smith thinks that if just 5% of US consumers begin to shun foods with GM ingredients, all processed-food manufacturers will quickly eliminate GMOs from their products.
