GENETIC ROULETTE UNSUSPECTING CONSUMERS GAMBLE WITH GMO FOOD
The show:
Coast to Coast — 18 May 2010
Five of the most common crops on the planet are typically grown as genetically modified varieties, and the resulting "GMOs" are found in one form or another in a majority of the foods we eat. What are the risks, and how can you avoid them?
Background:
In animal studies, GMOs have been linked to health problems like gastrointestinal malfunction; infertility and birth defects; immune and hormonal dysregulation; and accelerated aging. When asked, consumers are generally opposed to GMOs, and they are overwhelmingly in favor of labeling. Yet Monsanto and other GMO kingpins have worked the political system in the US to ensure that GMO-containing products do not have to be labeled. This is an excellent interview with one of the world's leading anti-GMO activists; it's stuffed full of great information about the GMO nightmare.
