AS THE WORLD BURNS CLASH OF THE CLIMATE TITANS
Fresh Air / NPR — 28 Jan 2010
In part 1, Jeff Goodell discusses the facts behind his recent Rolling Stone article "As the World Burns," which details how Big Oil and Big Coal mounted one of the most aggressive lobbying campaigns in history to block solutions to global warming. He's (mostly) in favor of cap and trade.
In the second segment, Mark Shapiro lays out the case that the current cap-and-trade scheme is more about profits for market players than it is about reduction of CO2 emissions. Shapiro's article in Harper's is titled "Conning the Climate: Inside the Carbon-Trading Shell Game."
