THE BANKSTERS' COUP D'ETAT
THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY

image of pig in suit as fat-cat banker; feature story is THE BANKSTERS' COUP D'ETAT - THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY Flashpoints — Oct 2009

It's essential that we all grasp the fact that the Wall Street banks (and the wealthy elites who pull their strings) control not only vast stores of money, property, and other assets, they control everything via their infiltration of national governments, especially the US government.

Catherine Austin Fitts has been in the trenches with the banksters for a couple of decades and she has great insight into how the bankster takeover of the world was accomplished, including the role of banks and financial institutions, rating agencies, various US government bodies, and international trade agreements and enforcement groups.

There are two new parts to the series this week—4 and 5. For all series segments, see our Wall Street Fascism page.

WHAT ARE AGRI-BUSINESS CHEMISTS DOING TO YOUR ORANGE JUICE???

image of oranges and a chemist with test tubes; feature story is SQUEEZED - WHAT ARE AGRIBUSINESS CHEMISTS DOING TO YOUR ORANGE JUICE? Food Chain Radio — 18 Oct 2009
Alissa Hamilton, PhD, gives us a "peak behind the carton" at the crazy stuff the food industry does to the juice from a simple orange to keep O.J. in the grocery stores 365 days a year.

The agri-chemists have developed a product that is anything but "fresh-squeezed"—even when the carton says so. Hamilton's bottom-line advice: Look for "not from concentrate" juice made by small companies. Even better: Buy fresh oranges and squeeze your own!

image of ominous-looking steamroller; feature story is AND THE WALL STREET BANKSTERS ROLL ON ... AND THE WALL STREET BANKSTERS ROLL ON

Democracy Now — 15 Oct 2009
JPMorgan Chase garnered massive profits for the third quarter. More broadly, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that major US banks and securities firms are on track to pay their employees about $140 billion this year—a record high. Meanwhile, on Main Street, foreclosures are at record levels and the broadest measure of official unemployment is at 17%.

How is this possible? Former bank regulator William Black explains that the banksters' recipe for success includes speculation on a grand scale, massive accounting fraud, and control of regulators and legislators. A year after the meltdown began, little has changed. The financial sector is still speculating, still lying, still colluding, and still making enormous profits at the expense of the real economy and working people.

Two Beers With Steve

The Money Masters — 04 Oct 2009 — Pat Carmack, producer of the film The Money Masters, explains why the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and "fractional reserve banking" were key factors enabling the big banks to become the ruling powers in the world. One important insight: Being on a gold standard is no panacea—we were on a gold standard during the financial crises of the Great Depression era. Carmack recommends forcing banks to adopt "100% reserve banking" and putting the power to create money back in the hands of the government, where the profits from the interest can benefit citizens, not bankers.

This is driving poor farmers out of farming and setting up a future food crisis in these countries. The most shocking revelation: Some of the big banks that were bailed out are using TARP money to buy farm land in foreign countries!

Tracking Tainted Food a Near Impossibility in U.S. — 08 Oct 2009
The piece examines assertions that a lack of tracking in the industrial food system is a cause of food-borne illness.
GP comment: Only Michael Pollan gets it right here: The problem is the highly centralized, profit-driven food system, not a lack of tracking. The attempt to link food safety and tracking is part of the attempt to shift even more market share to the big players—only they can afford the costly regulations and paperwork that would be required. Solution: Buy local food!
