FEEEEL THE POWER OF THE FED

Grinning Planet - Introduction — The Obama administration is pushing a plan to give the Federal Reserve more regulatory authority, ostensibly as a solution to address the "too big to fail" financial institutions that have required trillions of our tax dollars to stay upright. In reality, not only is the Federal Reserve not a federal regulatory agency—it is privately owned by selected big banks and investment houses—the Fed was a prime cause of the financial meltdown in the first place.

The Fed ending up with more power is not accidental; it is the outcome of a careful strategy! There are a number of possible solutions to the ongoing financial crisis, but this is the opposite of a solution. We offer two views on this important issue.

Max Keiser (on RDU New Zealand) — Max explains how all central banks, including (and especially) the Federal Reserve, are corrupt and how Goldman Sachs is at the heart of the manipulations that have (an continue to) destroy the economy for the enrichment of a relative few. This interview about the pros and cons of nanotechnology tries to be balanced but ends up being far too forgiving of nano's reckless ride. The level of risk society is taking by plunging headlong into nano products without long-term toxicity and environmental testing is astonishing. Worse still, the products mentioned as "pros" for the consumer range from the frivolous to the bizarre, with many of them designed to compensate for the ills of industrial agriculture. All this nano risk-taking is very troubling indeed.
