Grinning Planet Farm, Berea, KY offers hand-made glycerin soaps. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to your skin. Glycerin is a natural by-product of the soapmaking process and while commercial manufacturers remove the glycerin for use in their more profitable lotions and creams, handcrafted soap retains glycerin in each and every bar. In addition to the glycerin base soaps our products may contain shea butter, olive oil, lanolin, and beeswax. See descriptions for ingredient list. Our typical hand-made glycerin soaps are described in the following paragraphs. Shea Butter Bit-of-Honey SoapGlycerin soap base, shea butter, almond oil, honey. Shea butter is well known as a moisturizer and emollient. Honey is a humectant. This hand-made soap is a delight to the skin. It is smooth and the fragrance is slightly sweet. Lavender SoapGlycerin soap base, lavender oil, natural pigment coloring (or choose the colorless version). Taking its name from the Latin lavare, meaning "to wash," lavender possesses a clean, pure aroma. The scent encourages balance for the entire nervous system. Orange Spice SoapGlycerin soap base, olive oil, orange oil, and a bit of spices (includes cinnamon) complete this soap. This is a soap that helps to invigorate and rejuvenate the mind and body. Especially popular in the fall and during the winter holidays. Our glycerin soaps are sized in 3oz and 4oz round, oval, and decorative soap molds. All soaps are made with natural ingredients and are hand mixed, poured, and packaged. Grinning Planet Farm soaps can be found at the Berea Farmers Market, MERJ Market, and may soon be found at your local shops in Berea and Richmond. Please "shop local"! Doing so support's your community's local producers and small farmers. For more information on soaps and other personal products, see Grinning Planet's safe skin care article. |
